098 मनुष्य और पशु
कल एक साधक से बात चली कि मनुष्य पशु से कैसे श्रेष्ठ है?
निश्चित ही प्रत्येक पशु में कुछ न कुछ ऐसा है, जो मनुष्य को कहीं पीछे छोड़ देता है। कोई रात में भी देखता है, कोई उड़ता है, कोई तैरता है। यह भी की पशु को चलना, बोलना, खाना आदि भी सिखाने की उतनी आवश्यकता नहीं मालूम होती।
और पशु में ही क्यों, वृक्षों में, यहाँ तक की पत्थर, पहाड़, हवा, पानी, सब किसी ना किसी बात में मनुष्य से श्रेष्ठ हैं। रेगिस्तान की नदी के किनारे खड़े पेड़ की जड़ों को भी मालूम है कि पानी इधर है या उधर।
फिर भी असल बात है कि “बड़े भाग मानुष तन पावा” क्यों?
देखो पशु में एक ही आयाम है, वो यह कि वे जो हैं, जैसे हैं, बस हैं। अपनी सीमित शक्तियों को, भोग के निमित उपयोग करने के सिवा, कोई चारा उनके पास नहीं है।
पर मनुष्य कमजोर भले ही लगे, लेकिन दो आयामी है, माने वो जो है, वो तो है ही, वह कुछ और भी हो सकता है। अपनी विलक्षण बुद्धि के उपयोग से वह तो परमात्मा तक भी पहुँच सकता है।
ऐसे समझो, गुलाब की झाड़ी में काँटे, फूल से, संख्या में भी अधिक हैं, उनका प्रभाव भी अधिक है और आयु भी। नाजुक फूल की, काँटों के सामने कुछ औकात नहीं। फिर भी फूल में कुछ है जो काँटे में नहीं है, तभी वह झाड़ी कैक्टस नहीं, गुलाब कहलाती है, माने उस पौधे की पहचान काँटों से नहीं उसके फूल से की जाती है।
ऐसे ही, एक लाख गुण हों तो भी पशु पशु ही है, मनुष्य कहीं श्रेष्ठ है। पशु के पास मुक्ति की संभावना नहीं, मनुष्य के पास अनन्त संभावना है।
लोकेशानन्द कहता है कि जो मनुष्य शरीर पाकर भी मुक्त होने का प्रयास नहीं करता, कमाना, खाना, पैखाना ही जिसके जीवन का एकमात्र लक्ष्य है, जो आहार, निद्रा, भय, मैथुन में ही अपने कर्तव्य की इतिश्री मान रहा है, वह तो पशु से भी गिरा हुआ है, बल्कि वह तो मरा ही हुआ है।

Yesterday, a seeker was asking that how humans are superior to animals?
Certainly, there is something in every animal that leaves a human behind. Some even look at night, some fly, some swim. It also does not seem required to teach an animal walking, speaking, eating etc.
And why in animals, even in trees, even stones, mountains, air, water, all are superior to human beings in one thing or the other. The roots of the tree standing on the banks of the river of the desert also know whether the water is here or there.
Yet the real thing is human is more far superior than animals. Why?
See, animals have only one dimension, they are what they are, they are just like that. They have no choice but to use their limited powers for living.
But even though a man may feel weak, but is two-dimensional, he is what he is, and he can be anything beyond. By the use of his unique intelligence, he can even reach the divine.
Think of this, in a rose bush thorns are more than flowers. Not only they are more in number, their effect and age is also more. The delicate flower has no place in front of the thorns. Yet there is something in the flower which is not in the thorn, then only that bush is not called cactus, but rose. It is identified by flower not by thorns.
Likewise, even if there are a million qualities, an animal is an animal, a human being is far superior. The animal has no possibility of salvation, human has an infinite possibility.
Lokeshanand says that a human who does not try to be free, whose only goal of life is earning, eating and defocating, who is believing the entirety of his life in food, sleep, fear and joy, he is not even entitled to be called an animal, he is far far inferior to an animal.
